Together, we can do so much for Oklahoma's animals and the people who love them.
This year, we are dedicating #GivingTuesday to the thousands of dogs and cats who have been saved through our many lifesaving programs, like our Unchain OK, Mend-A-Friend Fund, and Wheels of Hope, over the past two decades.
Please consider giving the gift of healing, rescue, and second chances for #GivingTuesday!
Your donation is going to be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 through December 13.
Wheels of Hope Animal Transport
Our Wheels of Hope transports take animals from overcrowded rescues and shelters in Oklahoma to other areas of the U.S. where they have better chances of finding loving homes. We take 1-2 trips every month and every journey saves the lives of anywhere from 20 to 30 (and sometimes more) animals. The life-saving trips help save the lives of hundreds and hundreds of animals every single year. Each journey is costly -- in both money and volunteer time, but they're so worth it. Transports have brought new possibilities to numerous animals, offering them a chance at a brighter future.
Mend-A-Friend Fund
In 2015, the Mend-A-Friend Fund was created to provide life-saving emergency medical care to pet owners who could not afford veterinary care and had been denied other forms of financial assistance. The program stays in extremely high demand, but has to operate with limited monies.
Over the years, the program has evolved to also offer support to animal shelters, especially those in rural areas, with animals needing immediate emergency veterinary intervention to save their lives.
The Mend-A-Friend Fund saves the lives of 75-100 dogs and cats every year.
Unchain OK
One of our most impactful and unique programs is Unchain OK, which helps find alternative, more humane solutions for constantly chained dogs. Chaining is one of the most common forms of animal abuse and neglect in our state. Sadly, it is also legal across much of Oklahoma. The goal is always to find ways to unchain a dog, but when that is not possible, our team provides supplies - such as lightweight tieouts, insulated dog houses, kennels, food, trollies, and so much more - to make chained dogs' lives as comfortable as possible.
Anti-Cruelty Program for Law Enforcement
Today, OAA's Anti-Cruelty Program and #NoExcuseforAnimalAbuse tagline are widely known throughout the law enforcement community.
OAA's program provides CLEET-certified trainings, legal forms, on-site assistance during animal seizures, financial rewards for information in cruelty cases, and medical support through a network of veterinarians across the state.
We never want a law enforcement officer to feel like they don't have the resources to help an animal.
This is just a small peek at our many programs and resources for animals and pet parents. You can find more about us at www.AnimalAllianceOK.org.
